Thokozani friends!
A lot of you have called me very distressed saying you keep having traumatic dreams, massive snakes are chasing you. Some of you are asking how do you know if you have a calling. Some of you are not dreaming at all but your lives have turned upside down ...you've lost everything. Marriage, money, friends, careers, cars repossessed, health issues...it's all gone. And you keep having this recurring dream of losing your teeth. It breaks my heart because I went through it myself. In my case I was on the verge of being committed to a mental hospital. And into yakhona yenzeka ngokushesha...in a space of 6 months I had completely changed, at my core. I honestly thought I was bewitched or under some kind of spiritual attack. And yes I entertained suicidal thoughts, and if it wasn't for my famil I'm sure I would have given up.
So I've spent a bit of time trying to understand why my spiritual awakening was so traumatic and completely life-altering. And why for others its a gradual steady process. Yes that is what you are going through...YOUR THIRD EYE IS OPENING. Here in Africa we understand this to be a calling sickness - ungenwe idlozi, whereby in the East they refer to it as Kundalini awakening.
It is sad, in the West they have no framework for understanding this phenomenon or their framework is lacking I think. They are very quick to diagnose this as psychosis or schizophrenia...bathi uyahlanya, and pump your system with drugs and throw you in the looney bin. Well yes some of the signs of this spiritual moment are compelling and favour this argumemt...that's why bathi #izangoma izinhlanya :)...here are some of them:
Constantly dreaming of serpents, wild animals and water bodies like rivers oceans lakes etc...dreaming of Indians, white people ...(these are ascendent masters like #Bhuddha ...who will never re-incarnate as they achieved their true purpose on earth)
Electric jolt down your spine or entire body, ungqangqazele (tremors)
Visions of creatures and beings that possibly can't exist in this world
Hearing voices, high pitched sounds, or static like a radio out of tune
Tension on your back and neck, headaches, sensitivity to light and noise
The sound of drums send you into a frenzy, and your body feels like its being hit by lightening
The need to be alone, crowds just wear you down or dizzy spells around lots of people
Increased sexual desire or just lower sexual drive
Depression...suicidal thoughts, but sometimes complete peace and joy
Over-eating, loss of appetite, over - sleeping or insomnia
Inability to concentrate and you just can't keep track of long conversations, forgetfulness
A desire to be connected to a higher being or what is divine or amadlozi...you just know there is something out there you should know and you ask yourself existential questions like who am I? Why am I here? What should I be doing with my life?
Not to mention ...well the effect this has on your relationships, your ability to work and just your life goes ape shit.
When we are born...we are all born with a universal energy...and it sits at the bottom of the spine or the root chakra (energy centre) just growing with us, waiting for the right moment to awaken. In the East they call it Kundalini energy, in Africa the Nguni people refer to it as #umndiki (masculine energy or amakhehla) no #amandawe (feminine energy or ogogo). Other people's in Southern Africa refer to it is #umNdawu wamanzi especially if it is the type that is linked to water energy and is the most powerful and most difficult to treat as it has a direct link to water spirits. In Hinduism they call it #Shakti (feminine energy) and Shiva (masculine energy). We are all essentially talking about the same thing.
